What Is Vehicle to Load

Mekel DC V2L Discharge Adapter is a vehicle-to-load (V2L) device that converts the DC power stored in an electric vehicle’s battery into AC power for external appliances, effectively turning any compatible EV into a portable power station for camping trips, roadside emergencies, or commercial job sites.

Mekel offers two versions: CCS2 (5 kW peak) and Tesla NACS (3.5 kW peak). Each adapter comes with two universal sockets—simply plug it into the vehicle’s charging port, and power is ready to use with no complex setup. Designed to meet the needs of both individual travelers and commercial users, Mekel’s V2L adapters deliver reliable, convenient off-grid electricity anytime, anywhere.

Key Features of Vehicle to Load

Portable Power Anytime

Our V2L adapters turn any compatible EV into a mobile power station, delivering up to 5 kW of AC output — enough to run appliances, power tools, or even charge another EV. Perfect for camping, roadside emergencies, or remote job sites.

Plug-and-Play Simplicity

Simply plug the V2L adapter into your EV's charging port, and power is ready to use. No complex wiring. No electrician. No permits. The built-in intelligent chip automatically negotiates with the vehicle's battery management system for safe, stable discharge. Mekel's V2L technology turns any compatible EV into a portable power station in seconds.

Universal Compatibility

Available in both CCS2 and Tesla NACS versions, each adapter comes with two universal sockets. Works with most electric vehicles that support V2L functionality — including BYD, Hyundai, Kia, Tesla, and more. Compact, portable, and ready to go wherever the EV goes.

Intelligent Discharge Management

The Mekel V2L adapter continuously monitors battery temperature, output current, and voltage levels. If any parameter drifts outside safe limits, the system automatically shuts down to protect both the vehicle and connected devices. No risk of over-discharge or overheating.

Rugged and Weather-Resistant

Built for real-world use, not just garage floors. The Mekel V2L adapter housing is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, so it handles campsite dampness, roadside rain, or job site dust without issue. The V2L cable stays flexible even in cold weather.

Compact and Trunk-Ready

Weighs under 1.5 kg and fits in the glove box or a small corner of the trunk. No bulky equipment, no separate battery pack to carry. The V2L adapter uses the EV's own battery — the one already being carried — so there's nothing extra to charge or maintain.

FAQ

Can Mekel's V2L adapter drain my EV battery completely and leave me stranded?

No. The adapter has a built-in low-voltage cutoff that automatically stops discharging when the EV battery drops below a user-adjustable threshold (typically 20–30%). So the vehicle always retains enough range to reach the nearest charger. This makes the Mekel V2L adapter safe for overnight camping or extended emergency use without range anxiety.

Yes, 5 kW is enough to run a typical refrigerator (150–300W), a few LED lights, a phone charger, and even a small power tool simultaneously. The CCS2 version delivers a steady 5 kW of pure sine wave AC power, which is compatible with sensitive electronics. The Tesla NACS version provides 3.5 kW — still sufficient for most camping and emergency kits.

Absolutely. Mekel offers two separate versions: one with a CCS2 connector (compatible with BYD, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Volkswagen, and most European EVs), and another with a Tesla NACS connector (for Tesla models and North American vehicles with native NACS ports). Check your vehicle’s V2L support in the owner’s manual before purchasing.

The Mekel V2L adapter housing is rated IP54, meaning it’s protected against dust and splashing water from any direction. The socket covers also seal tightly when not in use. However, it’s not designed to be submerged or left in heavy downpours. For extended outdoor use in wet conditions, keep the adapter itself under a simple shelter while the cable runs out to where power is needed.

Yes, but with caution. Use a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord rated for at least the adapter’s full output (3.5 kW or 5 kW). A typical household 10A or 13A cord will overheat and become a fire risk. The Mekel V2L adapter draws up to 20–22 amps at 230V (5 kW), so always match the cord’s rating to the load. When in doubt, use the included short cable or a cord rated at least 25 amps.
