Introduction to Type 2 Standard Charging Connectors
Type 2 Female and Male Connectors are used for assembly of Type 2 AC charging cables. The Female Connector is used for the end that plugs directly into the Type 2 or CCS2 vehicle sockets. The Male Connector is used to connect to AC charging stations.Should the client intend to procure for assembly of tethered charging stations, the Female Connector is sufficient, as that is the end for connection with the vehicle charging socket.

¿Cómo funciona?
- Internal cables of Type 2 charging cable, following cable sheath removal are to be stamped along with corresponding terminals provided along with the connectors. The terminals are then assembled onto the exterior PC and nylon casing components of the connectors. The conduction and relay of electricity is done through the terminals of the Type 2 Female and Male Connectors to charge the EV from the charging station.

Aplicación

Uso público
Mekel Type 2 Female and Male Connectors, featuring an ergonomic design, are ideal for assembling Type 2 AC charging cables used in public AC charging stations across regions where Type 2 chargers dominate. The Male Connector connects to public charging stations, while the Female Connector plugs into Type 2 or CCS2 vehicle sockets (BEVs and PHEVs), enabling seamless electricity conduction via internal terminals. Certified by TUV, CE, UKCA, and RoHS, they boast IP65 water resistance and operate in extreme temperatures (-35°C to +50°C), withstanding rain, snow, and harsh climates—from equatorial heat to Nordic cold. Built to endure 10,000+ usage cycles, their robust quality ensures durability in high-traffic public scenarios, supporting both single and three-phase variations for versatile public charging cable assembly.

Uso residencial
Ideal for individual EV owners, home charging cable assemblers, and small-scale users, Mekel Type 2 Female and Male Connectors combine ease of assembly and long-lasting reliability. The ergonomic design simplifies cable assembly: internal cable terminals (included with connectors) are stamped and attached to the PC/nylon casing for straightforward installation. The Female Connector works with Type 2/CCS2 home EVs (BEVs and PHEVs), while the Male Connector connects to home Type 2 wall boxes. With IP65 water resistance, extreme temperature tolerance (-35°C to +50°C), and 10,000+ usage cycles, they ensure safe, durable performance for daily home charging. Certified for safety and backed by a 2-year warranty, they offer a dependable solution for custom home charging cable assembly, eliminating reliance on pre-assembled cables.

Uso comercial
Tailored for charging station manufacturers, charging cable assemblers, and commercial partners, Mekel Type 2 Female and Male Connectors deliver reliable performance and flexible customization. For tethered charging station production, only the Female Connector is needed (for vehicle connection), while both connectors are ideal for assembling untethered public/commercial charging cables. They support single and three-phase variations, with internal conduction components ensuring stable electricity relay. Offering customization options—laser-engraved logos, custom color, and packaging—they help businesses strengthen brand presence. Certified by TUV Rheinland, built for 10,000+ usage cycles, and backed by a 2-year warranty and extensive global delivery network, they minimize after-sales concerns for high-volume commercial assembly and charging station scaling.
PREGUNTAS FRECUENTES
Which connector do I need if I am manufacturing charging stations
If you are building tethered charging stations, in which the station end of the Type 2 charging cable is tethered onto your charging station, you would just need the Female Connector. The Female Connector is to be attached to the charging end of the cable and used to connect the Electric Vehicle
Are the Connectors compatible with Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)?
Please check the car’s charging inlet to see if it is Type 2 (Mennekes, 7 pins) or CCS 2 (7 pins + 2 pins). The Type 2 Female Connector is compatible with BEV and PHEV with Type 2 and CCS charging inlets. The Male Connector is compatible with charging stations, not for vehicles.
Do the connectors come with quality certification?
Yes. Our Type 2 Connectors are TUV, CE, and UKCA compliant. These are the most stringent certification requirements in Europe and the UK. Ensuring leading quality is our top priority.
